Una sa lahat, may dalawang batas tayo na nagbibigay ng proseso para mai-tama ang mga clerical at typographical errors sa mga birth certificates. Ito ang RA 9048 at ang RA 10172.
Sa ilalim ng mga batas na ito, kailangan na typographical at clerical error lamang. Halimbawa, ang pangalan ng tao ay talagan "REYES" pero, dahil sa namali sa pagmamakinilya, naging "REYEA" (Kasi, sa makinilya, magkatabi lamang ang letrang "s" at ang letrang "a"). Ito ay puedeng itama sa ilalim ng RA 9048.
Kung halimbawa din, ang pangalan ng bata ay "Franz". Sa totoo, hindi mawawari noong nagta-type ng mga form kung ang taong may pangalan na ganito ay lalaki o babae. One word of advice, if you tried to correct the mistake by having yourself registered again, you might be charged with falsification of a public document if the two birth certificates do not match. Kasi, it is illegal to register your birth twice, especially if the second registration was aimed to "correct" the first one.
