Wala pong naka-saad sa batas na eksaktong amount na dapat ibigay na sustento. Ang amount ng sustento ay dedepende sa laki ng suweldo ng magulang, at sa antas ng pamumuhay ng mga pamilya.
Wari baga'y minimum wage lang ang kinikita ng magulang (sabihin mo nang P500/day) so, sa isang buwan, (P500 x 26 days=) P13,000/month. Hindi puedeng magbigay ng P10,000 a month ang magulang sa anak, diba? Kasi, wala nang magagastos pa ang magulang para pamasahe niya patungo sa trabaho araw-araw, hindi na siya makaka-kain, wala na siyang ipambabayad sa kuryente, sa tubig at sa upa sa bahay.
Iyon ang ibig sabihin ng "depende sa antas ng pamumuhay".
