Doc, sobrang sakit po ng puson ko kapag nagkakamens ako, hindi ko alam anong gagawin ko. please help.

As an immediate remedy, pwede po kayo uminom ng alin man sa sumusunod: 1.) ibuprofen (Advil) 2.) mefenamic acid(Dolfenal) 3.)naproxen (Flanax) 4.) hyoscine (Buscopan). Lahat po nga mg naka-parentheses ay mga brandnames na available sa Pilipinas. You may choose to buy other brands or even yung generic lang. Guide lang po ang mga brandnames na yan :) Check the labels or the pharmacist for the dosage. Pro Bono: you can take Advil 200-400 mg 4-6 hours per day. MAXIMUM 1,200 per day. If you need more than that, consult a doctor first. I suggest you pick either of the first two dahil maraming pag-aaral ang nagsasabing hiyang ito sa mas nakararami and specifically more potent against pains related to menstruation.

I believe importante po na malaman niyo kung bakit nagkakaroon ng sakit sa puson / menstrual cramps / o mas kilala bilang dysmenorrhea ang isang babae. Ayon po sa mga pag-aaral, ang mga babaeng may matataas na level ng Prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2) sa tuwing nireregla ang silang nakaka-experience ng dysmenorrhea. Ang naunang tatlong gamot: ibuprofen, mefenamic acid at naproxen ay nagpapababa sa level ng PGF2 kaya sila ang ideal na gamitin.

Primary vs Secondary Dysmenorrhea
Kung talagang sobrang sakit ng iyong puson sa tuwing ikaw ay nireregla at hindi mawala-wala even after taking ANY (hindi lahat ^^) of the medicines mentioned above, mainam na magpatingin po kayo sa doktor - sa iyong OB o sa isang Gynecologist - para malaman kung ang iyong dysmenorrhea ay Primary (normal) o Secondary. Ibig sabihin ng Secondary Dysmenorrhea, ang sakit ay hindi lang dulot ng pagtaas ng PGF2. Posibleng may ibang medikal na kondisyon na nagdudulot nito gaya ng endometriosis, ovarian cyst, etc.

Mahalaga rin pong malaman na ang sakit na dulot ng dysmenorrhea ay maaaring mabawasan o maiwasan gamit ang mga natural na paraan.
1. Regular exercise
2. Diet:
>Iwasan ang dairy products (gatas, cheese, atbp.) - nakakapalala ng dysme
>Ilimit ang karne at egg yolk (2-3 times a week)
>Fiber-Rich carbohydrates - oats, brown rice, etc. (iwasan ang tinapay and the like)
>Prutas at Gulay
3. Hot compress - gumamit ng heating pad o kaya'y bote na may lamang mainit na tubig. baluting ng tuwaly at ilagay sa may puson sa tuwing daratnan
4. Maligo ng mainit na tubig\
5. Meditation o Yoga

Mainam na gawin niyo po ang mga natural na paraan and see how it goes. Who knows, you might not need those medicines at all :)
