Ang mga Negrito
Ayon kay Dr. H. Otley Beyer, isang antropologo, ang lahing Pilipino ay mula sa lahi ng tatlong pangkat ng mga taong dumating sa Pilipinas : ang Negrito, ang Indones at ang Mangyan.
Negrito, Aeta, Ati, Ita o Agta ang unang pangkat ng mga tao na dumating sa bansa. Nakarating sila ng Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng pagtawid sa mga lupang tulay, dahil noong huling Panahon ng Yelo, ang Pilipinas ay bahagi ng malakin ng kontinente ng Asya.
Ang mga Negrito ay halos apat na talampakan lamang ang taas, itim ang kulay ng balat, kulot na kulot ang buhok, pango ang ilong, makapal ang labi at payat ang katawan.
Ang mga Negrito ay tinuturing na mga nomads(nomad - taong hindi nananatili sa iisang lugar lamang). Narating nila ang iba’t ibang bahagi ng kapuluan upang maghanap ng pagkain. Mahusay silang mangaso at mangisda. Karaniwang matatagpuan sila sa kagubatan. Ang kanilang mga kagamitan ay punong yari sa kahoy at pinatulis na bato. Gumagamit sila ng pana at busog sa pangangaso, pangingisda at pagtatanggol sa sarili.
Ang mga halaman at balat ng puno naman ang ginamit nilang pantakip sa katawan. Sa paglipas ng panahon, natutuhan ng mga Negrito ang paggawa ng bahay, pagtatanim ng mga halamang ugat, at paggawa ng apoy.
Sa kasalukuyan, Maraming mga Negrito ang makikita sa Bulubundukin ng Sierra Madre, Panay, Negros at Zambales. Lumipat sa ibaba ng bundok and mga Negrito sa Zambales dahil tuwirang naapektuhan sila ng pinsalang sanhi ng pagsabog ng Bulkang Pinatubo.
