Paksa o simuno- Ang paksa ay ang pinag-uusapan sa pangungusap o ang tawag sa ingles ay subject. Ang payak na simuno ay ang pinakapinag-uusapan na salita sa simuno. Ang buong simuno ay ang buong simuno.

Panaguri- Ang panaguri ay bahaging tumutukoy sa paksa or sa ingles ay predicate. Ang na payak na panaguri ay ang mga kilos o ang diwa sa panaguri. Ang buong panaguri naman ay ang buong panaguri.

Halimbawa;

1. Ang matabang bata ay tumawid sa tamang tawiran.
Payak na simuno: bata
Buong simuno: ang matabang bata
Payak na panaguri: tumawid
Buong panaguri: ay tumawid sa tamang tawiran

2. Si Juan at Pedro ay pumunta sa party.
Payak na simuno: Juan at Pedro
Buong simuno: Si Juan at Pedro
Payak na panaguri: pumunta
Buong panaguri: ay pumunta sa party
