France

It is estimated that around 70,000 Filipinos reside in France, and around half of them live there illegally. Majority of Pinoys in France have decided to live there long term, with more than 90 percent of them having stayed for more than 15 years. Approximately 10% of Filipinos living in France have married French citizens. Particularly, there is a small Filipino community in Paris. Also, since 1980, the Pista sa Paris, a festival embracing the Filipino culture, has been held in Paris each year. Sponsored by the Filipino embassy in Paris, the event features singers, dancers, and Filipino cuisine.

Occupation

Most Filipinos living in France work as professionals (e.g. health care, information technology, and electronics sector), artists, domestic servants, and writers. Many also enroll and study in France. The French government encourages Filipinos to work in France, as long as they eventually return to the Philippines, by instituting new migration laws. For skilled workers or OFWs (overseas Filipinos workers), a specific procedure allowing them a three-year, once-renewable, permit to stay in France is allowed.

Age

With regard to age statistics, it is estimated that majority or around fifty percent (50%) of Filipinos in France are between 26 and 35, thirty percent (30%) are between 36 and 45, sixteen percent (16%) are between 16 and 25 years of age, and seven percent (7%) are older than 46.
