Translation: Does my son/daughter have the right to live in Sweden? I am an au pair in Denmark. I have a one month old child, who is half Swedish. The father of the child is Swedish, but does not care or support us. Does my child have the right to stay in Sweden, because he/she is half Swedish? Who should we approach or ask for help, so that we can stay in Sweden?

I am not familiar with Swedish law. However, you will need the child’s certificate of birth to prove that the child’s father is Swedish – without this, it would be difficult to get any benefits. Sweden is a welfare state. Children of Swedish parentage must receive support from their Swedish parents and get benefits like free healthcare and education.
