I know, I know. That post only gives information about citizenship. But, in order to obtain residency in the Philippines, well, you have to be a resident in the Philippines.

How do you prove this?

1. Do you have a lease contract in your name?
2. Do you have any identification card that bears your name and address in the Philippines?
3. Were you married in the Philippines?
4. Are your children (if any) born in the Philippines?
5. Are your children (if any) enrolled in Philippine schools?
6. Do you have work in the Philippines?
7. Do you have a bank account in the Philippines?
8. Do you have a driver's license in the Philippines?
9. Do you have a credit card issued here in the Philippines?

These are just some ways by which you can prove that you are a resident in the Philippines. You will need this when you apply for an Alien Certificate of REgistration (ACR) at the Bureau of Immigration.

You will also need an authenticated copy of your birth certificate, your wife's birth certificate, your children's birth certificates, your marriage license and your passport.

Here is a useful website to check-out: (there is also a link that you can click to get the documents you need to fill out).

Good luck to you. It's actually nice to know that when so many Filipinos are trying to jump ship, there are a few foreigners who are trying to live here. The Philippines is a good place to live (most of the time). Good luck to you.
