May mga nagsasabi na nakakatulong sa panlaban ng insomnia ang mga herbal teas tulad ng chamomile tea, green tea (ngunit bawal sa buntis). Ito ay dahil daw sa L-theanine, isang amino acid, na nakikita sa Camilla sinensis plant kung saan nakukuha ang green tea. Base sa mga pagsusuri, nakakapagpabawas raw ng stress at pagkabahala at tumutulong magkaroon ng mahimbing na tulog ang L-theanine. Pero may mga side effects din ang sobra sa paginom ng tsaa, dahil meron itong caffeine, na may stimulating effect at nakaka-sanhi din ng insomnia. Nagiging maihiin (diuretic) din pag uminom ng tsaa.
May mga over the counter melatonin supplements na maaariing makatulong sa insomnia (pero bawal ito sa bata at sa mga buntis).
Limitahin din ang paginum ng alak, dahil nagiging sanhi ito ng hindi maayos na tulog at pagising-gising. Iwasan din ang ibang inumin na may caffeine tulad ng kape, chocolate at softdrinks bago matulog.
Sinasabing may medicinal values ang honey at nakakatulong din panlaban sa insomnia.
