The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is all set to conduct the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) for Filipinos abroad.

Comelec Committee on Overseas Absentee Voting (COAV) Chairman Commissioner Lucenito Tagle said the poll body has completed preparations for the month-long OAV period starting April 13.

The voting machines are already there for those that will use the automated system. The ballots are also already there and other election paraphernalia.

He added that even the schedule for the Final Testing and Sealing (FTS) in the seven areas where the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines will be used has been set.

Hong Kong’s was held yesterday at the Bayanihan Center in Victoria Road, Kennedy Town.

Today is Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s turn, at the Philippine Embassy, followed by Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates tomorrow at the Philippine Embassy in Al Bateen.

On Thursday, it is Singapore and Dubai, UAE, at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Nassim Road, and Philippine Consulate General in Dubai on Al Quasis Area 3.

Jeddah and Kuwait will have theirs Friday at the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah at the Rehab District, and Philippine Embassy in Kuwait in Faiha.

According to the COAV, the areas were chosen to be automated due to the huge concentration of Filipinos.

Aside from those that will use the PCOS, other areas will still utilize the personal and postal method of voting.

May we ask for a small favor?

Unlike others, we don't charge users fees for asking questions from our medical, legal and other experts. This is because we want to keep our services free and accessible to all, regardless of social or financial status.

But it's difficult and expensive work. While more underserved Filipinos are using BuhayOFW, none are paying for it. And advertising revenues are minimal. Nevertheless, we have costs like any other top site: servers, power, rent, programs, staff, medical/legal experts, etc. We take no government funds; we run on donations.

So if you value our work in helping less fortunate Filipino friends, then become a Supporter and help make our future more secure. Help us continue our work.
